Good to know

Open a PDF or start a blank document. Click text to edit, select words to format them, add text or images, and arrange objects with the Move handle or position fields. Undo and redo cover text, objects and pages.

Individual-word editing keeps neighboring words in place; text-box mode wraps text inside each box. This is a page-based editor rather than automatic Word-style document pagination. Pictures and table lines remain a background, which can be removed or replaced. OCR can extract text from scans, but their printed words remain part of the original image.

Edited text exports as selectable, searchable PDF text. Source text is removed from the background rather than covered. Fonts may be substituted; unusual font encodings, text clipping and rotated layouts may be unsupported. Check the downloaded PDF. Up to 25 MB, 40 pages and 500,000 text characters; no uploads or accounts.

Files stay in your browser. Keep your originals and check your download.

How to use Edit PDF

  1. Choose an unencrypted PDF, or select Start a blank document. Use Individual words for small corrections or Text boxes before importing to rewrite longer passages.
  2. Click text to edit it. Select text to change its font, size, color or alignment. Use the text and image buttons to insert content, and the page controls to add, copy or reorder pages.
  3. Use zoom to inspect your changes, then select Create edited PDF and download the result. Open the download to check text, fonts and page order.

A practical example

To correct a name on a one-page letter, keep Individual words selected, open the letter, click the word and type the correction. Check that the replacement fits before creating your edited PDF. A longer replacement may need a smaller font or a wider text box.

Common questions

Why does an edited word look different?

PDFs can contain only a subset of a font. New letters may use a local Noto fallback. Add font lets you supply a matching TTF or OTF from your device; review the downloaded appearance.

Can I change words in a scanned page?

A scan is a picture, so clicking its printed words does not create editable text. The OCR tool can recognize printed text for copying or searching. Adding a text box in the editor places new content on the page.
